This course in Mental Health Law is designed for Healthcare Assistants, Mental Health Nurses, Mental Health Youth Workers, Adult Support Workers, Physiotherapists, and Psychologists. For succeeding in any of those professions we just mentioned, you need to be very well aware of mental capacity in general, the Mental capacity ACT of 2005 and much more. Our course will start by introducing you to mental capacity, the Mental capacity ACT of 2005, the five principles of MCA, the Code of practice and the changes MCA will bring. Then, we will focus on teaching you the Mental Health Act 1983/2007, the assessment processes across health and social care, the Human Tissue ACT 2004, state benefit appointees, children and young people and the other acts of the MCA. You will also learn about what Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Procedure is, the code of practice and the principles, what Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) is, the factors, why it is being introduced, how it is different from DoLS and why it can replace DoLS. In terms of legislation and services, you will learn the legislation of mental health, mental health assessment, “Section 17 Leave”, the SOAD Service, and other services.
